We use Cokesbury's Deep Blue curriculum for our preschool children’s ministry. This curriculum uses multiple ways to help children engage with the Bible story for the day. By using music, games, crafts, and the occasional snack, children will use all of their senses when interacting with the Bible.

Our 2's and 3's class will spend the whole month focusing on one story. At this age, repetition is important for children as they learn the stories of our faith. For the month of February, they will be learn the story of Jesus’ baptism.

Our 4-5 year olds will have a theme for each month and will hear different stories each week based on that theme. For the month of February, the theme is "Family Wisdom.”

Our grade school children use the Shine curriculum. This curriculum uses games, crafts, bible memory verses, and group discussion to help them gain a deeper understanding of the stories of our faith.

In February, our children will hear stories about the life of Jesus and some of the stories he shared: the parable of the mustard seed, Jesus inviting people to a banquet, and the “lost parables.”

Worship Care Info.png

At First Baptist, we believe that worship is one of the most important things we do. We believe that worshiping together as a family is an important part of a child and a family's spiritual formation. But we also recognize that not every worship service engages children in ways that are developmentally appropriate. So, we do our best to empower and equip families and children so that worship is a meaningful and transformational experience for both the parents and the children.

We do have a nursery available for children who are two and younger. Through our team of wonderful volunteers and under the watchful eye of a few paid workers, your children will be loved and cared for. Children will spend time knowing they are loved and developing their motor skills and imaginations by playing with age-appropriate toys and listening to theme-appropriate music.

For our older preschoolers (ages 3-5), we offer Fresh Start Kids and Sanctuary Kids. For Fresh Start Kids, children will start in the worship service and participate with their family. Then, they will be dismissed to go to Fresh Start Kids where they will hear the bible story for the day, and do some activities based on that story. For Sanctuary Kids, children will be taken to the Sanctuary Kids room following Sunday School (or taken there by their parents if only coming for worship).

This fall for our Wednesday night programming, we will be offering a couple of different options for our children. Nursery Care: For the youngest among us (ages 2 and younger), nursery care will be available while parents attend their class of choice. Godly Play: Our preschool children (ages 3 through Kindergarten) will participate in Godly Play. This is a Montessori based curriculum that introduces the stories of our faith in a different way than children normally see in Church. Children will hear a story and have a time to respond to that story each week. At the end of our time together, we will have a "feast" (a simple snack of crackers and water). Spark*: Our grade school children (grades 1-5) will spend this spring learning about different field personnel(s) (missionaries) who partner with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Each month, they will focus on a different personnel and be introduced to some of the cultural aspects of the field personnel's location. In January, children will learn about Alicia and Jeff Lee who work in Macedonia. This couple is one of our CBF Mission Partners!
