MLK Day of Service
Help home owning senior adults
Martin Luther King day weekend every year
Here is information on how you can get involved with FBCD folks who will serve on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday weekend MLK Day of Service (both Saturday and Monday!).
HELP WITH REPAIRS
Volunteer now for an opportunity to help Decatur’s home owning seniors with needed repairs they cannot afford. That’s the focus of the service we participate in each year over Dr. King’s birthday weekend. Get a group of friends together to participate in a work session or sign up individually to join other FBCD folks. Sign up with Mai Cavalli by email or call her at 404-931-2394.
HELP WITH FOOD
If you want to help out by providing breakfast items for the Monday volunteers, email Mai Cavalli or call her at 404-931-2394. A lot of volunteers need to be fed, so your donations are needed and will be appreciated!

Food Co-ops — Every Tuesday volunteers pick up food from the Atlanta Food Bank and bring it to First Baptist, where members of a food co-op divide it up according to the size of the family. These are people on fixed incomes who pay token “dues” to the co-op and meet together for mutual encouragement and community. 1st and 3rd Tuesdays — veterans. 2nd and 4th Tuesdays — senior adults. Contact Cliff Richards.
Global Village Project — A high school for young female war refugees. Prepares the students for public high school or to take the GED. Tutors are always needed.
